Anna Fornalczyk

Polish economist, academic lecturer and manager, former President of the Polish competition authority, partner in COMPER Fornalczyk and Partners. Graduate of University of Łódź, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (1968), partner at consulting agency COMPER Fornalczyk i Wspólnicy Sp. J. which area of practice is competition protection (anticompetitive practices, mergers and acquisitions) and public aid for entrepreneurs. Scholar at University of Łódź (1968-2002), WSB in Nowy Sącz (2003-2008) and Łódź University of Technology (2008-2013). Former lecturer at Central European University in Budapest. Academic interests of Mrs. Fornalczyk are focused on applied microeconomics, economy of the competition law related to restructuring, demonopolization, privatization and public aid in Poland as well as in the European Union. Mrs. Fornalczyk was the president of the Antimonopoly Authority between 1990 and 1995. In 1991 Mrs. Fornalczyk participated in association negotiations between Poland and the European Union and after the association she helmed the harmonization process of the Polish competition law and the public aid system. Between 2005 and 2014 Mrs. Fornalczyk was a member of the Supervisory Board of ING Bank Śląski. Since 2004 Mrs. Fornalczyk has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Laboratorium Kosmetyczne „Dr Irena Eris” and since 2001 a member of the Board of Directors of Polish – American Freedom Foundation. Mrs. Fornalczyk is also a consultant of the Center for Antimonopoly and Regulation Studies of Faculty of Management Studies, University of Warsaw and an author of numerous publications including articles on politics and the law of competition as well as an author of Biznes a ochrona konkurencji (“Business and the competition protection”; 2007).
