Ivan Krastev

Bulgarian political scientist, philosopher, Chairman of the Centre for Liberal Strategies in Sofia, co-founder of European Council on Foreign Relations, and permanent fellow at the IWM, Institute of Human Sciences in Vienna. In 2008 he was ranked 85^th in the Top 100 Public Intellectuals Poll. He was also the Research Director of Political Consequences of Anti-Americanism, a three-year project carried out at the Center for Policy Studies (2004-2006). Krastev authored many publications, e.g. Shifting Obsessions: Three Essays on the Politics of Anticorruption (2004). Europe’s Democracy Paradox, The American Interest (2012), In Mistrust We Trust: Can Democracy Survive When We Don’t Trust Our Leaders? (2013), among others.
